SONOMA COUNTY MEDIA STAR
JOINS JB COMMUNICATIONS’ MARKETING PROFESSIONALS

Santa Rosa, CA — March 17, 2003. JB Communications, Sonoma County’s premier full-service advertising and marketing agency, is boosting its award-winning media profile by welcoming popular radio personality Ted Williams as its new Senior Account Executive.

Immediately recognizable to local listeners as the top-rated afternoon host on Santa Rosa’s KJZY-FM, Williams brings an impressive combination of media savvy and public image to JB Communications. “Ted perfectly fits JB Communications’ equation,” says John Beilharz, the agency’s founding partner. “He’s active in the community, has a sterling reputation for integrity and innovative thinking, and offers our clients an extensive knowledge of electronic media and marketing from an insider’s perspective.”

“Joining the Number One advertising agency in Sonoma County is exciting,” Williams says. “This is a terrific opportunity to meet new personal challenges, to use all of the talents I’ve developed in 25 years in radio and television. Because JB Communications is a full-service agency, we can find so many powerful ways to market a business. We’ll deliver our clients a media presence unlike anything this community has ever seen.”

Williams began his broadcasting career while a student at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz. Mentored by such legendary radio talents as Paul “The Lobster” Wells, Williams quickly established himself as a rising star at KLIV-FM in San Jose. Moving on to the prestigious Southern California market, Williams became a familiar face and voice to Los Angelenos as a news anchor and reporter for television station KKLA. He also worked extensively in media production, developing and appearing in numerous commercials, public service presentations and industrial videos.

The media veteran arrived in Sonoma County in 1988 to introduce the contemporary Christian K-LOVE format—which Williams helped create—to the local market. Williams and his three partners founded Positive Hit Radio and enjoyed immense success with this groundbreaking format. He became a favorite personality on the classic hits station KMGG-FM before joining the KZST/KJZY family of stations as Operations Manager and on-air talent in 1994.

Williams believes his unique background in electronic media and community activism is ideally suited to JB Communications’ philosophy. “Investing in advertising is money ahead,” Williams says. “Through an intimate understanding of our community’s needs, and by increasing the visibility of businesses that meet those needs, we’re building relationships with our clients and helping them flourish. That’s a real thrill.”

JB Communications general partner Stephen Rustad concurs. “With Ted’s tremendous media chops, we have an unparalleled resource for promoting business growth. JB Communications has always been a leader in local media, and Ted is a key component of our strategy for leaping to an even higher level. Ted’s going to be instrumental in creating some amazing advertising, the sole focus of which is building our clients’ businesses.”

A man of diverse interests and abilities, Williams is a qualified emergency medical technician and a former general contractor. He serves on the governing boards of several community organizations and events, including the United Way Day of Caring and the Assistance Dog Institute, and is an enthusiastic advocate for the Sonoma County film industry. He frequently speaks to students and community groups as an expert on broadcast media and entertainment.
